Summary

Welcome back to Virgin River with the books that inspired the hit Netflix series…

Virgin River became a safe haven for Sacramento prosecutor Brie Sheridan after she nearly lost her life at the hands of a crazed criminal。 Though tough and courageous, she has some fears she can’t escape。

LAPD officer Mike Valenzuela was badly wounded in the line of duty。 When he agrees to become Virgin River’s first cop, he does so knowing it’s time he settled down。 Twice divorced and the lover of too many women, he secretly longs for the kind of commitment and happiness his marine buddies have found—a woman who can tie up his heart forever。

Mike will do anything to help Brie free herself from painful memories。 Passionate, strong and gentle, he vows to give back to her what she’s so selflessly given him—her heart, and with it, a new beginning。

A fine example of good men and strong womenWhat all of these Virgin River books have in common are men who are strong, loyal and kind and women are tough, smart and capable, although reluctant to trust men after they have been hurt or betrayed。 It’s an interesting study on breaking stereotypes of men and women and assumptions about small towns。 Well done, Robyn Carr!

Decent story lineVirgin River saga continues。 New romances。 Story is entertaining but much too predictable。 Also, if you've been reading the series, it gets repetitive。 The author insists on rehashing the "past"。 I get that it's supposed to be a stand alone book, buts it's a series。 Let the reader want to go back and read the previous books if she hasn't already。 Not sure if I'll continue。 Decent story lineVirgin River saga continues。 New romances。 Story is entertaining but much too predictable。 Also, if you've been reading the series, it gets repetitive。 The author insists on rehashing the "past"。 I get that it's supposed to be a stand alone book, buts it's a series。 Let the reader want to go back and read the previous books if she hasn't already。 Not sure if I'll continue。 。。。more

Opening the book I discovered this is the third book in the first series of books。 “Whispering Rock” presented the town of Virgin River with interesting characters whose names I recognized and it was set at just the right pace for me to fall in love and enjoy it again。 A quick layout of the charming characters and their relationships established a strong sense of caring, the support of small town living and a feeling of comfort。 Cohesiveness, strong bonding and a coming together in good and bad times were appealing in the sixteen chapters。 I loved the all for one attitude of the Marines, their support at all times and the manner their challenges were explored。 Introduction of the topic of rape was written with sensitivity and honesty。 Great appreciation for the time and care in conveying the after effects and fears in an easy-to-read and understanding way。 I felt a strong connection to the characters。 The strength pulled from tragedy, the time given to adjust and the realistic relationships were powerful and inspiring。 。。。more

。。。more

We met both Brie and Mike in book two and I knew I was going to be curious about their romance。Brie is Jack's younger sister and the one he is most protective of and in the last book we learn that she is going through a divorce and it's really getting to her。 Which is why in book two she came to Virgin River for a visit。  Mike was a policeman who gets shot in the line of duty and he also comes to Virgin River to heal。 This was the first time that Mike and Brie hang out a bit and that was in book We met both Brie and Mike in book two and I knew I was going to be curious about their romance。Brie is Jack's younger sister and the one he is most protective of and in the last book we learn that she is going through a divorce and it's really getting to her。 Which is why in book two she came to Virgin River for a visit。  Mike was a policeman who gets shot in the line of duty and he also comes to Virgin River to heal。 This was the first time that Mike and Brie hang out a bit and that was in book two。In the beginning of Whispering Rock Brie was back where she lives and is the DA or assistant DA, I can't remember, anyway she was trying to prosecute a rapist, but he gets off and it's not to much later that Brie is attacked by the guy she tried to convict。 Brie is in a bad place and nobody can bring her out of it, not even Jack。Mike hears about what happened and he can't relate to everything that happened to her but he does know about how to try and come back from trauma since he was shot。 Without telling his friend Jack, Mike starts spending time with Brie and slowly brings her out of her shell she has tucked herself into after the attack。 He is so sweet and takes things slowly and before you know she is going out to dinner with him and getting herself out and about and feeling better。Then later Brie goes to Virgin River to stay for a while where she realizes she still isn't back to normal and is jumpy at everything, but Mike is there and they continue seeing each other and Mike takes it very slow with her。 They have a sweet story built on friendship and then to something more。I really enjoyed Mike and Brie's story it had the right amount of drama and even a bit of sadness but mostly it was just nice and fluffy。 Brie is a strong character who goes through a lot with the recent divorce and then horrible attach, but she was a fighter。 Mike has had to overcome some obstacles of his own with the damage he received when getting shot, learning to use his arm again and gain strength in it, plus some other damage that he thought might be permanent but found out it wasn't。 It was fun being with the other characters too, Jack and Mel and Preacher and Paige。 Preacher really cracked me up a few times and Jack he really knows how to get the ladies mad at him。。。lol。If your looking for a nice fluffy romance then I think you would enjoy the Virgin River series and even though you might not need to read them in order I suggest you do because there are things that continue from book to book and the character growth of those in the town。 。。。more

Most of the men of Virgin River are former or current military。 As such they are all handsome, brave, upstanding, protective doers of good and righters of wrongs。 Plus, they are virile and eminently gifted and selfless lovers。 They do have occasional bouts of foolishness, but luckily their women set them straight in short order。And their women are stunningly gorgeous, petite, and kind-hearted。 They are also utterly competent at whatever they choose to do。 They love children and cannot wait to ge Most of the men of Virgin River are former or current military。 As such they are all handsome, brave, upstanding, protective doers of good and righters of wrongs。 Plus, they are virile and eminently gifted and selfless lovers。 They do have occasional bouts of foolishness, but luckily their women set them straight in short order。And their women are stunningly gorgeous, petite, and kind-hearted。 They are also utterly competent at whatever they choose to do。 They love children and cannot wait to get pregnant and have babies。 So it’s a good thing that they are also deeply passionate and constantly willing lovers。 Because all that amazing, never before experienced sex heals both emotional and physical wounds。Ugh。 Boring。 Boring。 Boring。 。。。more

Excellent read ~ I loved turning every page finding a good ending !

Very poor writing。I love books and I feel very disappointed when I found misspelled words or bad grammar。 The author does not have any knowledge of Spanish and unfortunately did not have a good editor either。 All the Spanish sentences are so poor gramma that it completely ruined the book for me。

Mel

3。5 really。 I enjoyed the third book in this series。 I like following Mel & Jacks story but there were some other heavy storyline’s lines that take away time spent with them。 In time I probably will read more from the series but not rushing out to do so。 What I do like the most is how easy these books are to read。 They are page turners。

I truly enjoyed the Virgin River Series but #3 didn't do much for me。 It was very predictable and I found it too similar to the other books in the series。 All in all, Robyn Carr is a great author, this book just didn't do much for me。 I will read more of her books though。 I truly enjoyed the Virgin River Series but #3 didn't do much for me。 It was very predictable and I found it too similar to the other books in the series。 All in all, Robyn Carr is a great author, this book just didn't do much for me。 I will read more of her books though。 。。。more

I loved this Virgin River series -- everyone is talking about the Netflix series based on the books, but the books were so good, I don't want to spoil the feeling I have when I think of this series。 I usually do not read series, but the first book hooked me。 Are the men a little too macho? Yes。 Are the woman dependent on the men in many ways? I liked this book! It was a good continuation of the series。 I listened to the audiobook and I think the narrator did a good job having the characters personalities come though。 I will continue on to the next book。

Even though there is a theme of tow distraught characters meeting, loving one another, and then making tons of kids, it’s still incredibly beautiful to read。I absolutely love the Brie and Mike romance。 They are so lovely and it’s so enlightening to follow their stories along with those of the kids。The rape storylines did add some weight but it didn’t take away from the beauty of the story。I love the Sheridans, Mel, and preacher and Paige。 It’s a wonderful series to escape into at the end of a lo Even though there is a theme of tow distraught characters meeting, loving one another, and then making tons of kids, it’s still incredibly beautiful to read。I absolutely love the Brie and Mike romance。 They are so lovely and it’s so enlightening to follow their stories along with those of the kids。The rape storylines did add some weight but it didn’t take away from the beauty of the story。I love the Sheridans, Mel, and preacher and Paige。 It’s a wonderful series to escape into at the end of a long day。 I’m looking forward to getting lost in the Virgin River Christmas and the Return to Virgin River while I wait for Netflix to bring it back for season three (even though the series is different enough for me to be surprised by the book and tv series)。 I love the happy endings, the struggle, and the evolution of the characters。 。。。more

#3 in Virgin River Series。 Jack's sister, Brie, comes to Virgin River after a brutal attack。 She meets up with an old family friend, Mike, who is recovering from being wounded as a police officer。 This is their story。 Another one of Jack's marine buddies - Paul, is introduced。 Too much sex in the story。 #3 in Virgin River Series。 Jack's sister, Brie, comes to Virgin River after a brutal attack。 She meets up with an old family friend, Mike, who is recovering from being wounded as a police officer。 This is their story。 Another one of Jack's marine buddies - Paul, is introduced。 Too much sex in the story。 。。。more

This book showed a lot more of Virgin River。 I enjoyed being introduced to the new characters and watching their lives unfold as well as watching the lives of familiar characters continue to grow。 I have to admit that this was my favorite so far, with a few laugh-out-loud moments with Paige and Preacher, Jack and Mel, Vanni and Paul。 Well done。
